Welcome to the new winter shed....or to use the old Latin vernacular, the winter hibernaculum - a place of safe shelter, where animals hibernate during the cold....and in our case most likely quibble about how to pronounce it ;0)
Whatever life brings us, whatever our itch, right here is friendship for all and any who choose to snuggle in this amenable, amiable, hibernacle [high-bear-knack-cull?!]

Welcome to the annual shredding of Sheddie nerves!
As always, we will ride the season together, not necessarily all playing the same tune at the same time...but always a group you can count on to show some support and make you laugh. ❄ Welcome to the winter shed ❄ Settle in for the slide into silliness...and a bit of proper weather stuff* * for example, umbrellas were once called 'bumbershoots'... With thanks to ClimateNHBSH for kind permission for use of his brilliant photo 👍
I note that the plump hoarding squirrel in my garden, having eaten every last nut intended for the birds this autumn, is running short on nutty storage space, much like our former summer blog. And I am informed that this apparently screws with certain nutty Disqus settings - so it must be time for a new shed blog and a refreshed landing page.
Fill ya boots...think of it as your nutty cache for the season - y'all know what to do by now...😘 Welcome to the Summer Season 2021 Sheddies! Blue skies greet us, as we willfully jab away at the hazards and stress of 'The During' and burst into what we all need now, more playful open pastures. It has been a tough winter, and sadly not everyone came through. We remember our lost friends with fondness, and cherish their weather loving spirits daily. Memories are kept alive in this space - all we have to do is share, love and laugh - together. Our Shed is made of these things....we have much to be thankful for (with the Dad jokes/ farty shoes possible exceptions). We also have Mako, for when life gets strenuous, to guide us into a safe hiding place - cat sense - who could ask for more? Shed on deer ones A word from 15th Century English has come back to notice this year - 'RESPAIR' - meaning a recovery from a time of despair, the return of fresh hope. It seemed apt. It has been a tough year, one sadly marked by distressing loss, new fears and challenging times in all our lives. Added to which, an ugly hurricane season that wrought damage and frayed nerves in equal measure, as it picked repeat fights with the same unfortunate coastline. A record season, that behaved like a stuck record, confusingly in Greek. As always, we experienced it together, a group in support of each other to help lighten the load with fun and laughter - as well as good solid information. Slowly, with luck and a bit of patience, we now clamber into the final stretch of 'the during' and inch /2.54cm (or giant strides in Texas) forward, towards 'the after' - to hoof it together in pastures new. In a shared Winter Respair Shed, where you can bring anything, bring a fresh hopeful smile....and some cake...or a large bag of greasy potato chips...and enjoy. Dedicated to the memory of Grothar 1 July 1946 - 7 October 2020. RIP our hilarious & much missed friend Welcome to the 2020 spring/ summer shed We find ourselves in the most unusual of places, these being times for which I can think of no true parallels. But we are Sheddies. Together we can help each other to come through this awful global pandemic with our sanity intact. Here we CAN keep a tenuous grip on our version of normal...proud weather geeks sharing a huge virtual panoramic window to the world outside. I imagine when this is over we shall be like the cows that lived on the farm near my home, after the 2001/02 UK outbreak of foot and mouth disease, the entire dairy herd was housed in a cow shed for over a year, to keep them safe from contagion all around. When the day finally came for them to return to the big green meadow I watched them, tears pouring down my face, as they ran, bucked, scampered and chased each other all around the wide open space they must have been dreaming of all that time. And so here, in the new Moo Shed, we have our place of safety, to chew the cud, until we once again can freely frolic and gambol in the sun. In a shared shed where you can be anything, be kind. Welcome to the Blue Shed Winter blog It's a place for friends and fans of the weather to gather, chatter and pass the time of day (or night) in comfort and peace...with a bit of fun, laughter and good natured teasing thrown in for the season. Chichi holiday decorations such as tinsel and sparkly pickles tolerated to a high degree ;0) Blue Shed on... Welcome to the new blog page. Thank you all for making the transfer over from the old site to our new home so successful.
I think we all can agree that the past week in the company of Hurricane Dorian has been a bruising encounter - so perhaps now is a good time bring in the new... Carry on shedding! Okay....welcome all ;0)
So this is our new home, settle down, find a seat, pour a drink...make yourself comfy... This move all came about because Disqus, in their wisdom, decided that they will remove all 'channels' and 'discussions' such as we had been using this past couple of years. This takes effect as from September 1 2019. We didn't get any notice about this from Disqus, we only found out about it because our friend Tornado Fan caught it and passed the info on to the Mods. Tiffy, we are very grateful to you for preventing a Shed FIRE, this could only have come as a very nasty shock for a great many Sheddie friends. That disaster has been averted by the creation of this new Weebly blog site, and by the MODS joint formal purchase of our domain name BLUESHEDWEATHER.COM We hope to bring you many years of safe, fun and happy blogging here. You can continue to use your existing Disqus handles and you will see the comment box is identical to the one you have been using all this time. Keep it fun, friendly and informative. Thank you UK Go in peace Blue Shed on... |
